Urinary tract infections are a super common infection, that can effect the bladder and even kidneys. But luckily they can usually be treated at home without the use of antibiotics.

Symptoms of UTI
There are many symptoms you could experience if you have a UTI these can include:
- Frequent urination
- Urgency to pee
- Burning or pain when peeing
- Pain in the lower abdomen
- Pain in the back if the kidneys are effected
- Fever or generally feeling unwell
These are just a few of the most common symptoms but might not be the only ones you experience. You could also in rare cases have no symptoms at first until the infection gets quite severe. UTIs are very common and therefore it’s best to avoid antibiotics to treat it if possible. Because of the overuse of antibiotics we are beginning to have UTI pathogens that no longer respond well to antibiotics.
D-mannose
D-mannose has been proven effective in treating and preventing urinary tract infection in uncomplicated cases. D-mannose is a type of sugar found in fruits, and also occurs naturally in the human body. When using D-mannose its thought to coat the urinary tract, causing a type of film to form so that the bacteria can’t stick to it therefore it can not multiply. Its then removed from the body via urine. Here are a few articles on this if you would like to read more on how D-mannose can help.

When looking for a good UTI supplement just remember to use caution if you are pregnant, although D-mannose is considered safe in pregnancy hibiscus which is found in many UTI blends is not.
