What type of nebulizer and how it works

When choosing a nebulizer its best to opt for a compressor (Jet) style, these are usually more expensive then the ultrasonic units, but they don’t clog as easy, and generally last longer. The compressor style units are also good for nebulizing a wider variety of things (such as vitamin c) then the ultrasonic ones. If you are anything like me nebulizing will become something you highly recommend.

The Jet nebulizers uses a compressor to push air through a narrow tube, then through an opening to create a jet. This movement creates a vacuum that then pushes the liquids out of the nebulizer in mist form. Ultrasonic nebulizers cause a type of vibration to break apart the liquid to create a mist. Compressor style nebulizers are what health professionals use, including hospitals.

In the case of rsv this is a common go to for hospitals. It is considered a low to moderate effective treatment. Its believed to help prevent hospitalizations if treated early. Its also believed to shorten the duration of hospital stays. This treatment has very little adverse effects and is considered very safe. Here are a few links to published info on its use in infants with rsv.
