Seasonings are so easy and cheap to make yourself. Once you have tried this delicious homemade fajita seasoning you’ll never want store bought again!

Homemade seasoning
There are so many reasons to make homemade seasoning. It’s cheaper then store bought. You learn to customize the flavor. Best of all it won’t contain all the nasty preservatives and dyes. So many premade seasonings will contain a myriad of unnecessary ingredients for freshness, odor or color. Some of these include corn syrup solids, maltodextrin, color most often caramel to be exact, and artificial flavor. I try my best to avoid natural flavors on ingredient lists as well, but unfortunately its very hard to do. Even under the facade of “natural” there can be many undesirable ingredients. Most often these are ingredients that have been proven to negatively effect our health. This is a super easy way to help your body stay a little bit healthier.
Its more affordable
If you buy bulk seasonings and mix up your own its much cheaper in the long run. One of the great things about making your own seasonings is you can use the same spices in multiple different mixes. Fajita and taco seasonings are a great example. Both of these seasoning mixes use a lot of the same ingredients. There are a few key differences, but there similar enough you can even substitute them in most recipes. I always have both on hand. They’re so versatile and can be used in much more then strictly fajitas or tacos.

Keeping it clean
A lot of seasoning recipes add sugar. Its usually a small amount, but a small amount here, there, and everywhere adds up. I choose to make mine without sugar. I avoid sugar as best I can. When it comes to seasoning recipes I just never miss it!
Fajita Seasoning
Easy fajita seasoning with bold flavors
Ingredients
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Mix all the seasonings together, store in an airtight container. Should stay good for at least 6 months.
Notes
I don't love the onion flavor in fajitas so I don't add any onion powder. With littles around I try not to make our food to spicy so I also omit the cayenne pepper. These can both be delicious additions to those who enjoy them!

I also love making my own seasonings, I will definitely give this recipe a try!
This looks so easy and delicious! It would be handy to have this on hand
