3 Months of Blogging

This is a three month update of my blog here at The Annthill.

What is the end goal of a blog

So for those who might not know blogs can bring in significant income. This is my most asked question by friends and family: “Are you getting paid to blog?” The answer is no. Most blogs don’t make money for the first year. If you’re very consistent and grow your readers, and subscribers sometimes you can monetize before then.

Monetizing is also something that can be a little confusing. It’s not like you hit this magic spot and just start getting paid. There are several ways to make money that could include: ad revenue, sponsored posts, affiliate marketing, and selling products. As of writing this post I don’t have any of the above….. Yet!

So why blog? Well first and foremost I love helping people live a healthier more natural life. I love when people ask me; “What do you do for cold sores?” I can point them here. Or: “How do I treat a UTI without antibiotics?” I can send them here. Got a terrible cough check out the posts on nebulizing. Or what about some healthy swaps like msg free taco seasoning? You get the idea. Eventually I do hope to monetize, but for now I’m just happy sharing and hearing how it might have helped someone avoid harsh prescriptions. Or make a healthy nutritious meal.

My real numbers

So now lets get into the numbers! As I’m writing my Pinterest is doing well. They base their stats on a 30 day period. So far the highest ranking month I had my impressions were around 26,700. They have dropped quite a bit since then unfortunately. It’s not uncommon for it to fluctuate quite a bit so I know this is normal. Still not what I would like to be seeing.

Now what are impressions: they are the number of times that one of my pins was on someone’s screen. So this does not mean that they saved it, clicked it, or when to my blog from Pinterest. How ever it is still a metric of measurement and it did grow significantly the past few months.

My pin clicks as of right now are just below 1000. My saves are only 184. Outbound clicks are only 300. So these numbers could definitely be better! None the less I am happy overall with the growth of my Pinterest so far.

Now for the blog numbers. My sessions on the blog, which is the number of individual users to my site at the moments is only 500. The highest month I believe was 579. Pageviews for the blog are currently sitting at 644. My highest month for pageviews was almost 750.

As for my email list last I checked I think I had 4 subscribers. As of this moment I’m not sending out newsletters yet but definitely still want to grow it.

That’s it

Pinterest is my only social media for the blog so far. So these are all my current stats. It’s not amazing, but progress is progress and I’m happy with it so far. If you enjoy these little blogging updates let me know in the comments. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to our news letter and follow us on Pinterest. I never know if I should be saying follow us or just me? I’m a one woman show so far, but it seems oddly selfish to say me?? Let me know in the comments would you write us? Or just me?.

Good job! Keep going! I heard on the Blogging Millionaire Podcast to always write in first person and then clarify ‘we’ or ‘us’ to whatever is relevant; ‘our family’ or ‘the team’ etc. 🙂 Enjoyed your update as I’m also a new blogger! All the best
